The best part though? Nathan Fillion from Firefly, Serenity, One Life to Live, Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place, and the new movie, "The Waitress" co-starring Kerrie Russel was one of Susanna's celebrity guests!
He was a great sport throughout the crazy show. The funny thing is that I saw him at the bar we were at prior to the play and thought to myself that he looked incredibly familiar, but didn't say anything to anyone. Next thing I know he's on the stage being introduced as Nathan Fillion! There's our celebrity spotting for the month. I had no idea he was actually born in Edmonton!
Also appearing in the performance was Edmonton's own Canadian Idol Finalist, Sheldon Elter. He amazed us all with his ukelele playing talent.
More celebrities that are walking Edmonton's streets these days include:
Carmen Electra, Patrick Swayze, Leslie Neilson, Chris Kattan, Preston Lacey, Amy & Zoe Schlagel, Matthew Knight, and Cameron Bright who are all starring in, "Christmas in Wonderland", directed by James Orr. It is about a family who has just moved to Edmonton from LA. Their mother is still trapped in an LA airport which leaves all the Christmas shopping to dad and the kids who have no Christmas spirit. The kids, at some point, end up finding a satchel of money in West Ed and things start looking up until the crooks that counterfitted it start hunting them down. CiW is being filmed in West Edmonton Mall so the mall still has all of its Christmas decorations up, even though it's May -- which is confusing some visitors.
The public is welcome to come to the mall to watch it being filmed so if our schedules match up with the filming we may head over to check it out. I mean, not every day does your favourite (and one of the best ever) SNL characters come to little old EDMONTON!!
