Expectations murdered by heated killers

Thanks to a few drinks and a great light show this concert was spectacular. Also going into the experience with absolutely no expectations helped, too. We had never been to a show at Rexall Place before so we weren't quite sure what to expect exactly. Walking into it.... it was strange, to say the least. Folks were walking around with burgers, hot dogs, pop corn, and Starbucks coffee. It felt we were at a circus more so than an actual concert. But, once The Killers took over the stage... everything changed.

I called it on what song they would start with, too!

Thanks to The Killers for a double encore, playing Smile Like You Mean It (my favourite song), and not being jackasses, but rather seeming like a super nice band that just likes to throw lots of drumsticks.

Brandon Flowers is also really short. Far shorter than I had anticipated. So one has to take that into consideration when hearing him compare himself to Jesus or John Lennon or whoever the heck he thinks he is right now. He's just self-conscience, really. ;)

I don't think Rexall has danced that much, clapped that much, or cheered that much in years.

Things that made this night special:

- Kyle dancing, singing, and heckling Flowers

- The girl in front of us who danced the night away even though her boyfriend didn't want her to

- The couple in front of us who didn't turn around and yell at me after I spilled a little bit of beer on their heads... (I still feel horrible:( :( )

- Hot Hot Heat playing all our favourite songs

- Molson Canadian

- The entire arena singing, "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" over and over again with complete silence from the band... bringing the house down and I'm sure more than a few people with it.

There might just be something to this arena rock thing, but we're not rushing out to get Nickelback tickets just yet.

The Killers are definitely one of the best live bands out there right now. A great show... one going in the history books for us.
